One Year Doctor Visits

This has been a very heavy doctor week, especially with Peter's fever from the weekend. It bought us an unexpected visit to the pediatrician, but luckily, it was nothing major and we just had to wait for it to pass on its own.

Yesterday, we headed back to the specialist to find out how much longer we will have to be dairy free. The end is in sight, at least for Peter. She determined that he doesn't have a milk allergy, but a milk protein intolerance. Once we are sure that he is over the fever, we will start to re-introduce dairy into his diet (but not mine). If he is able to handle the dairy with no episodes, then we will know that he has grown out of the problem, and our diets will not be as restrictive.

This morning, Peter had his one year check-up with the pediatrician, which went very well. She was impressed with his walking, and happy that we will be introducing dairy back into his diet. When she tried to get Peter to walk across the room to me, he turned and made a bee-line for the toy in the room (I think she found that amusing).

It is funny how the difference in equipment at the two doctors' offices can give such different results. At the specialist yesterday, Peter was 29.7 inches long and 21 pounds 3 ounces. This morning, he measured at 31 inches and 21 pounds 12 ounces. While I think that the specialist's measurements are probably more accurate, I'm going to go with our pediatrician for the official one year numbers.

This will (hopefully) be our last doctor visit for three months.
