25 Week Picture and Poll

Picture and poll on time for a change!

How far along?
25 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Up about 13 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, and it's hard to fit into things that aren't maternity
Stretch Marks? Nothing new, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way
Sleep: I have a hard time sleeping at night, which is strange because I am tired
Best moment this week: Christmas!!
Movement: Yes, all the time
Food cravings: No cravings, just hunger
Gender: Don't click here if you don't want to know
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? Still flat, but barely. I think that it might pop any day
What I miss: Brie, which is one thing that I always like to eat at Boxing Day
What I am looking forward to: Not baby related, but New Years Eve with friends
Weekly Wisdom: The holidays bring a lot of big meals. While you might be very hungry, just remember that you have less room in your stomach for all that food.
Milestones: I'm six months pregnant, counting in months versus weeks is quite strange

Baby is now the size of an eggplant!
Let your spouse put an ear to your belly -- he might be able to pick up baby's heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving baby a healthy pink glow. Baby's also soaking up your antibodies, getting the immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and baby will soon perfect the blink -- perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.

Sorry this is so late. The picture is actually from last Wednesday (24 weeks 1 day), but between the holidays and then my lack of internet, I was unable to post it earlier.

24 Week Poll

A day late, and I don't have the picture yet (I'll get that tonight). I will leave you with a bonus picture that was taken on Sunday. Happy Holidays!

How far along?
24 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Up about 12 pounds (must have been the fondue, and Christine's cookies)
Maternity clothes? Yes, and finally have something to wear to the holiday dinners and stuff
Stretch Marks? Nothing new
Sleep: If I could only get comfortable
Best moment this week: Spending time with our friends at a low-key holiday thing
Movement: Yes, feeling it and sometimes even seeing it
Food cravings: There is still nothing that I really want, although I am often hungry
Gender: Don't click here if you don't want to know
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? It's pretty flat, but not quite out yet
What I miss: Being able to have wine with my friends. I also anticipate that there will be things that will be missing at Christmas and Boxing Day.
What I am looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!!!! And Boxing Day.
Weekly Wisdom: You will start getting achier, make sure to take it easy when you need to.
Milestones: V-day! This means if I went into labor today, they would do what they could to save the baby. (Note to Baby: This is NOT an invitation to come out. As much as we love you and want to meet you, we want you to stay inside until April.)

Baby is now the size of papaya!
Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

The Baby Dances!

Sitting on the couch and watching tv, the baby decides to wake up. It looked like s/he was trying to come out through my belly button! It was little thrusting bumps on the upper part of my belly, and the first time that I ever saw movement, even though I've been feeling it for a while now. It was the strangest thing that I ever saw, and I'm trying very hard to not think of Alien (or Spaceballs).

23 Week Picture and Poll

Sorry this is late, the picture is from last night, but it was too late for me to start this when we got home

How far along?
23 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Still at 10 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, but nothing that I want to wear for the holidays
Stretch Marks? Nothing new
Sleep: I would love to, but the baby seems to have other plans
Best moment this week: Not baby related, but getting all the Christmas shopping, wrapping and decorating done. It was nice feeling organized, and I somehow have the feeling I won't be nearly as prepared next year.
Movement: Lots of it, and the baby seems to really like kicking Geoff
Food cravings: I don't seem to be in the mood for anything
Gender: Don't click here if you don't want to know
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? Barely still in
What I miss: Being at Tequila Sunrise last night made me realize how much I miss margaritas, even though it is freezing outside
What I am looking forward to: Not baby related, but seeing Genna this weekend!
Weekly Wisdom: When registering near the new year, make sure to ask if the patterns you like will be continued
Milestones: Nothing really this week, I have things in progress, but until they are done, they aren't really milestones. I was hoping to have the registries done, but since this is the time of year that products get discontinued and new ones get released, I guess I'll have to settle with mostly done.

Friday's Doctor's Appointment (no reference to the gender)

So Geoff and I had our anatomy scan on Friday. While we did find out the gender, we are going to keep this blog gender neutral until the baby is born. The only place where it will say the gender is the post below, so if you don't want to know, just don't read that post.

So other than the boy/girl question, we got to spend a while watching the baby on Friday which was great. Apparently, the baby did everything that the technician needed, which she said never happens. I pointed out that it would probably be the last time that the baby was well behaved. S/he did get tired of having her/his picture taken towards the end, and was holding her/his hand in front of her/his face.

The technician did say that the baby is measuring a little big, and is a little over a pound right now. She also said that being big a this point doesn't mean anything for when the baby was born. I, in the mean time, am praying that the baby takes after Daddy size-wise, and not me.

Finally, here are some shots from the sonogram, a few profile shots and a picture of the foot.

DO NOT READ if you do NOT want to know the gender...

Well, this past Friday was our anatomy scan, and we decided to find out the gender. We are officially on team blue. It came as a surprise to many of our family, they all seemed to think that he would be a girl. We aren't keeping this a secret, but please remember that some people don't want to know, like my father. I'm not going to be referring to the gender on this blog until his is born (I'll be linking back to this post in the weekly poll). So please, if you talk to my father, don't say anything to him.

Baby's now the size of a banana!
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.
