We have a tooth!
Yesterday morning, Charles woke up from his nap with a tooth that he did not have when he fell asleep. It is the bottom tooth on the left when you are looking at him. I cannot believe that this has happened already, Peter didn't get his until he was just about seven months. I was just thinking how I had to get a few more gummy pictures before his teeth start to come in. Once again, this is a hard picture to take, but I was able to get one where you can see the tooth. More pictures to come as it continues to grow.
Happy Six Months!
I started this post on time, but didn't get the pictures off the camera until today. I thought that time went quickly with Peter, but it is going by so much faster with Charles. It feels like I should still have a newborn, but he is already six months old.
He is now 27.75 inches tall and weighs 15 pounds 10 ounces, putting him in the 90th and 25th percentiles. So he is not gaining enough weight, and we are going to be upping the amount of solids that he is eating. We are also thinking that the reason he has been sleeping so terribly at night is that he isn't getting enough calories during the day. Again, the doctor wasn't too concerned since Charles is so active now, but we are keeping an eye on it. He is also still showing some symptoms of the dairy allergy, but not as much as Peter did so we are just monitoring it for now.
As I mentioned, sleep has been terrible. He is actually sleeping worse now than when he first came home from the hospital, not making it more than two hours at a time. I am definitely tired. He has found his voice, although no "dada" yet. He also gets so very loud while trying to get our attention. He loves to be the center of attention, but especially likes it when Peter plays with him.

At six months, most children can:
Turn toward sounds and voices – Yes. We aren't sure if he actually knows his name, or is just recognizing our voices.
Imitate sounds – Definitely trying to. Right now, he's still mostly saying "mama", especially when he wants to be picked up.
Rolls over in both directions – Yes, impossible to get him to stay still anymore.
At six months, half the children can:
(Are) ready for solid foods – Real food, here we come
Sit without support – He has once or twice, but he's usually too busy rolling over and scooting to be bothered.
Mouth objects – All. The. Time
Pass objects from hand to hand – He's been doing this for at least two months now.
At six months, a few children can:
Lunge forward or starts crawling – He's scooting. He's getting up on his elbows and knees. Crawling is so close, he can taste it.
Jabber or combine syllables – Mostly just "mama", but there have been a few "baba"s as well.
Drag objects toward himself – He definitely does this, I think that he found it easier than scooting. The fact that we keep Peter's toys out of dragging reach means that he has to scoot to get to them.

Baby's Gotta Eat
I'm behind on posting, mostly because I've been slow getting the pictures off the camera. Here are a couple of pictures of Charles' first taste of banana, as assisted by the ever helpful big brother. He has since had sweet potato and avocado, and he really seems to be enjoying eating. He grabs for the spoon and "helps" put the food in his mouth. We have a couple of new fruits to try over the next few days, so I will hopefully have some new pictures soon.

Mobile Baby!
I know I owe a bunch of updates, and I (hopefully) will post them over the next few days, but I caught this video today and I wanted to share. Not quite yet crawling, but scooting. Crawling won't be too long now. Funny enough, the things that usually motivates him to scoot are his brother's toys.
