Better Late Than Never

FIVE new milestones and no posts to show for it. I did want to get this up before tomorrow, and they all get overshadowed by the posts that I probably will not get up for few days (since tomorrow will be very busy).

The first four are the four new teeth that Charles has gotten in a matter of days. They are the four on top, and I have be unable to get a photo of them as Charles tries to eat the camera every time.

But the big one is that Charles is now walking. Full on walking. This video is from last week, and he has much improved since then. He can now change direction mid-walk, and doesn't need to pull up to stand anymore. I cannot believe that this time as already come (and a little earlier than it did with Peter).

Please excuse the extreme mess, as I was in the middle of folding an epic amount of laundry (because things like this don't happen when everything is neat and clean).

I know that I haven't been updating here as often as I would like, and I hope to start doing better. There are a lot of changes coming up for both boys, and I want to use this space to keep a record of everything.

Mobile Baby!

I know I owe a bunch of updates, and I (hopefully) will post them over the next few days, but I caught this video today and I wanted to share. Not quite yet crawling, but scooting. Crawling won't be too long now. Funny enough, the things that usually motivates him to scoot are his brother's toys.

New Ride

A little while ago, Nana and PopPop surprised Peter with his first bike.

He has been doing so well peddling on the tricycles at school that I was not at all surprised when he had no problems with the bike. He absolutely loves it, and we are trying to figure the best place for him to ride. Here is video of him enjoying the nice weather we've been having recently.

Ghosts of Christmases Past

I've recently started playing with a new video editing program. As an experiment, I went through my old Christmas videos to see how they would turn out. I think that they came out pretty well, and I'm hoping to go through some more old videos in the near future.

Here is Peter's first Christmas.

Here is Peter's second Christmas.

Here is last Christmas.

Last Faire, First Cone

Over the weekend we headed back to the Renaissance Faire and Peter played a few games. He slayed a dragon.

He fished for duckies.

And he had his first ever ice cream cone. At first, he didn't seem to know what to do with it.

It didn't take him too long to figure out.

And here is a little video of Peter slaying that dragon...

Zoo Again

One more Peter post for today, as yesterday we headed into the city to check out the Central Park Zoo. Of course, Peter was thrilled that we arrived by bus.

At the Children's Zoo, Peter pretended to be a bunny.

And a turtle.

At the main zoo, he searched for swimming polar bears with no luck.

Apparently, it was too hot for them to swim, as Peter kept looking.

He was able to find the turtles, which made him very happy.

But not quite as happy as finding Cookie Monster and Elmo as we were leaving the zoo.

And finally, a video of Peter feeding the sheep. Another long, but cute, one.

Peter's Renaissance Adventure

I know that recently this blog has mostly been about the new baby, but I haven't forgotten that it is still about Peter as well. Over the weekend, we headed up to the Renaissance Faire again, and Peter had an absolute blast.

He fished for duckies.

Showed off his strength with a hammer (like Daddy).

It was pirate weekend, and Peter showed his pirate pride.

His favorite game to play was load the cannon, he loved throwing the ball.

The biggest surprise of all was when Peter wanted to take a boat ride, since normally he wants nothing to do with the water. He was great on the boat, and enjoyed waving to Daddy (who was taking pictures).

And finally, I leave you with a video of Peter playing Load the Cannon. It's a little on the long side, but I just couldn't cut out any of the cuteness.

Puddle Jumper

Enjoying the spoils of the rain yesterday.

And some more.

Just a little bit longer.

(And annoyingly enough, I couldn't upload these from my phone, which is where I took them. Hence the delay in posting.)

Kisses and Claps

Here is one more video for good measure. Hopefully, I'll get some more up before Friday.

We have a toddler!

Peter took his first real steps today. A couple of weeks ago, he stumbled from the couch to my knee, which was about four steps, but he didn't really have a lot of control.

Today, he was standing at the couch, looking out into the living room, took four unassisted steps, paused, and then took four more before going back to crawling. He was walking long enough that I was able to get the video camera and get it out of its case, but not long enough for me to turn it on and record.

But fear not! Peter seems to enjoy his new skill, and I was able to catch it again about half an hour later. And by catch, I mean I stood him up in the middle of the room and waited for him to go.

A Little More Snow

It snowed again this morning, like it hasn't snowed enough this winter. The difference is that this time there wasn't so much snow that it would bury Peter, so this afternoon I took him over to the park so that he could play in snow for the first time.

At first he didn't seem to know what to think. He would pick up a little in his hand and take a look. It was different from the leaves that he played with in the fall.

He found it a lot harder to move around, I don't think that he expected to sink into the snow. Luckily, I thought to bring the video camera, so I have some rare video to share.

It wasn't too long before he had enough, and was ready to go back inside. He seemed to enjoy it, but his tolerance was short. We are both looking forward to the spring, and everything thawing out.

No Shoelaces are Safe

Due to Peter's new found mobility, Geoff and I have implemented babyjail. Most of the time when we are home, Peter and I spend it playing in the middle of the floor, but every once in a while, I need to leave the room. That is where babyjail comes in, and I am so glad that Peter doesn't seem to mind it at all. (At least in small doses.)

In fact, sometimes he tries to break into babyjail.

He has also been working on the crawling, and is getting much better at it. When he sees something that he wants, he makes a beeline right towards it. Right now, he wants to untie my shoes. He even tried to untie PopPop's sneakers when they were visiting. Here is a video from this afternoon, showing off his new moves.

Another of his new skills is going from laying down to sitting up. Often, I find him sitting up in his crib when he is supposed to be napping. I think it is his way of saying that he doesn't want to sleep.

Nap FAIL

In other news, Peter has been great with the eating. We have added green beans and carrots to our meal options. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving next week, especially since we now have a list of fall foods to enjoy with the family.

Yummy green beans

I also have gotten a better picture of the tooth! It helps that it keeps coming out more and more. He still only has the one, but it looks like the tooth next to it is going to sprout any time now.

Almost Crawling

I still have to go through all the videos (and I will go through them), but here is a quick one that I got today. Peter doesn't like to perform for the camera, so he's a little shy, but here he is getting  up on his hands and knees.

I do hope to get the rest of my videos organized soon.

One Quick Video

I still have to go through the videos and get them out, but I just quickly wanted to share this one that I just took. Hopefully, over this week I'll be able to organize the rest of the videos.

There He Rolls!

Yesterday, while visiting Connor, Christopher and Rebecca, Peter rolled over for the first time while awake. And I actually got video of it!

One More Video

I'm still going through the videos and hope to post some more soon, but yesterday I finally caught a good laugh on camera.

Father's Day Surprise

So Peter got to spend time on Father's Day weekend with Granddad and Pop-Pop, Grammy and Nana, Great-Nanny, Uncles David, Christopher and Greg, Aunts Rebecca and Aggie and cousin Connor.

But most importantly, he got to spend a lot of time with Daddy. So to celebrate, here is a video of part of their Father's Day conversation. Listen very carefully at about 28 seconds.

I will try to add more videos soon.
