29 Week Picture and Poll

It's a shame that the best time for Geoff to take this picture is when I am ready to go to bed.

How far along?
29 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Up about 17 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes
Stretch Marks? Still nothing new, and hoping that it stays that way
Sleep: I get tired much earlier than before
Best moment this week: Seeing Geoff hold Connor, especially since he has never held a baby that small
Movement: Oh yes, and it can be freaky to watch
Food cravings: No cravings, but I am hungry
Gender: Don't click here if you don't want to know
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? Flat and out at the same time, even though I'm not sure exactly how that is possible
What I miss: My sense of balance, especially in heels
What I am looking forward to: Our childbirth preparation class starts in less than a week
Weekly Wisdom:  While at first it seemed like there was a ton of time, all of a sudden you realize how fast it is all going
Milestones: Nothing too special, but only 11 weeks left to go

Baby is now the size of a squash!
Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.

28 Week Picture and Poll

I had this all ready to go last night, but I fell asleep before I had a chance to post it. I was also having issues with a shadow, and I'm not sure why.

How far along?
28 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Still up about 15 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, and that isn't going to be changing.
Stretch Marks? Nothing new
Sleep: I wish I could sleep more
Best moment this week: Holding Connor. Here are some pictures from when we went to visit him after he came home.
Movement: I can't decide if the baby is going to be a soccer player, or a Broadway dancer (think kicklines)
Food cravings: Citrus, and dairy
Gender: Don't click here if you don't want to know
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? Mostly flat, but one part is popping
What I miss: Being able to easily get into bed (and I thought our bed was high before)
What I am looking forward to: My appointment, where I will get to hear the heartbeat again
Weekly Wisdom:  It is much easier to eat small meals throughout the day, than the traditional 3.
Milestones: We have baby furniture (in the sense that it has been ordered and is waiting to be delivered, not that I have it set up).

(from babycenter.com, since theBump.com hasn't changed)

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Connor Joshua Wood

Yesterday, my mom went to Target to get a few outfits for Connor, since he was so early and Christopher and Rebecca didn't really have anything small enough for him. So to help out, I told my mom that I would wash the clothes so that they are ready once he leaves the hospital. Here I am with one of the outfits. It is scary how little they are (these are actually newborn outfits instead of preemie, since he is so long). So here is a bonus picture (in which I look awful, but at least the baby clothes are cute).

27 Week Picture and Poll

No matter how many times I retook this picture, I couldn't get it to come out any better. I had just gotten out of the shower, so at least there is some reason why I look so awful.

How far along?
27 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Up about 15 pounds
Maternity clothes? I really can't fit into anything else. It scares me a little that I am only going to get bigger.
Stretch Marks? Nothing new, but everything feels tight
Sleep: Not much. It's hard to breathe when I lay down, and I just can't find a comfortable position
Best moment this week: Finding out that not only did I have a nephew (early), but that he was doing well
Movement: Baby seems to be taking after Mommy, dances all the time
Food cravings: Nothing overwhelming, but I am hungry a lot
Gender: Don't click here if you don't want to know
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? Still flat, but starting to come out
What I miss: I'm going to miss not being able to have our traditional anniversary champagne tonight (I guess it will just have to wait until April!)
What I am looking forward to: Not (my) baby related, but seeing my new nephew in person
Weekly Wisdom:  Things start to go very quickly, don't let it overwhelm you
Milestones: Lots of milestones this week, but only one related to this pregnancy. I'm officially in my third trimester! I also became an aunt and am celebrating my second wedding anniversary tonight.

Baby is now the size of an eggplant!
Let your spouse put an ear to your belly -- he might be able to pick up baby's heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving baby a healthy pink glow. Baby's also soaking up your antibodies, getting the immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and baby will soon perfect the blink -- perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.

Congratulations Christopher, Rebecca and Baby Boy Wood!

On Sunday January 10, 2010, my brother and his wife welcomed their brand new bundle of joy at 33 weeks (so it was a little scary). He hasn't been named yet, and is expected to be in the NICU for the next week, but is doing very well and breathing on his own. He weighed 4 pounds 14 ounces and was 18 inches long. I haven't been able to see him in person since I'm not a parent or grandparent, but the pictures I've seen are adorable. Congratulations to Christopher and Rebecca!

Doctor's Appointment

Everything is going as expected. I'm growing as expected and the baby's heartbeat is right where it should be. In fact, the baby even kicked the doctor while she was measuring the heartbeat (s/he wants to make her/his presence known)! All is well, and I have the information to schedule our childbirth class and tour of the hospital. I also start going every two weeks now, so everything is really starting to pick up.

100 Days and Counting!

This will be short, since it is getting late, and I have to get up early tomorrow. I am officially at 100 days until my due date! I have my 26 week appointment tomorrow, where I will be scheduling the birth class and the hospital tour. Everything is happening so quickly now, it's a little shocking how fast everything is going.

Let the countdown begin!
