At Two Months

Today Charles had his two month check-up and things are going great. The doctor was very impressed with his progress, he can basically hold up his head and pushes up from his stomach. He is now 12 pounds 10 ounces (the flip flop of last month) and 24 inches long, putting him in the 50th and 90th respectively.

Another month has flown by, and it wasn't until last night that I even realized what the date was. I was lucky that Charles was still awake to take his pictures, but that's why this update wasn't posted yesterday. Charles is growing so much, but we'll find out exactly how much later this week.

Charles is much more social now, and has great big smiles for whoever is paying attention to him. He is becoming very vocal, much more vocal than I remember Peter being at this age. He knows that the hanging toys on his play yard and bouncer make noise and tries to swat at them. He has not yet mastered shaking a rattle on his own, but Peter is more than happy to help with that. He is doing well with tummy time, and is starting to push up a bit. He is also great at holding up his head when he is on your shoulder, and loves to look around.

Sleep has been going pretty well, and I probably just jinxed myself by saying that. He will usually have one long stretch of sleep, anywhere from four to seven hours, and then will have two to three hour stretches, really only being awake to eat. Eating has also been going great. We haven't used a lot of bottles, since pumping really isn't fun, but he will take a bottle without too much fuss.

Happy Three Years!

And just like that another year has gone by. We celebrated Peter's birthday this weekend with a party and other celebrations. It is scary how much he is a little boy now, and not the baby we brought home three years ago. He is his own person with his own personality, he knows what he likes and doesn't like. He is fully in love with his big boy bed, but he hasn't shown much interest in potty training recently. He still loves being a big brother, and is constantly "helping" with Charles. And on Wednesday we'll find out exactly how big he's gotten.

Use three to four words in a sentence - Oh yes
Name two actions (e.g. skipping, jumping) - Check

At thirty-five and thirty-six months, half the children can:
Hop and skip - Still haven't seen him skip, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could.
Follow a two or three part command - Yes although he doesn't always want to.
Separate fairly easily from parents - Usually yes, but every once in a while he'll freak out.
Ride a tricycle - Yes and now it's actually getting warm enough to get out his tricycle.

At thirty-five and thirty-six months, a few children can:
Balance on each foot for three seconds - He still doesn't want to try.
Get dressed without help - Still not quite there yet.
